Description

The route takes you around the city walls of Solothurn and through Nennigkofen, Tscheppach, Aetingen, Büren an der Aare, Arch and Grenchen to Altreu, where a stopover is planned. The Bucheggberg tour heads back to Solothurn via Lommiswil and Oberdorf.

Watch the farming villages and gentle hills covered with forests and meadows roll past as you travel around the Bucheggberg region. The view of the long Jura mountain chain and the Bernese Alps is sure to amaze you.

Route

  • Solothurn's outer walls in focus: all about art, churches and culture. Baseltor gate / Konzertsaal concert hall / Kunstmuseum art gallery / earthworks and walls / Reformed church / Muttiturm tower (30 min.).

  • Journey from Solothurn through Nennigkofen and Büren an der Aare to Altreu (75 min.).

  • Bucheggberg, picturesque and idyllic: gently rolling hills, lush meadows and the striking blue River Aare.

  • Travel through the Bucheggberg region, one of the last remaining cultural landscapes in the Swiss Midlands.

  • Büren, a former pilgrimage site: Büren's Old Town is included in the inventory of the nation's cultural assets. This means that impressive sights greet you wherever you turn, including the castle of the former bailiffs, city hall, the two city fountains, the "Spittel" local museum, the arcades on the high street, and the mighty wooden bridge spanning the River Aare.

  • Explore on your own or take a guided tour in the Infozentrum Witi or a refreshment break at Restaurant "Zum grüene Aff" (60 min.). Prices upon request depending on choice of refreshments.

  • The tour heads back to Solothurn from Altreu via Lommiswil and Oberdorf (20 min.).
