RBS - Regional Transport Bern-Solothurn
The ‘Elektrische Solothurn-Bern-Bahn ESB’ started operations in 1916. After mergers over the years, it became the Regionalverkehr Bern-Solothurn RBS, which today operates the RegioExpress connection between Solothurn and Bern.
Beschreibung
The RBS operates four railway lines. The RE connection to Solothurn, the S8 to Jegenstorf, the S7 to Worb and the S9 to Unterzollikofen as well as ten bus lines in the greater Bern area and eight bus lines in the Lyss-Bucheggberg-Solothurn region. The first regular-interval timetable in Switzerland was introduced by RBS back in 1964, and the first low-floor S-Bahn trains in 1992. In addition to a well-developed route network with ideal connections for commuters, the RBS also has a lot to offer in terms of leisure activities. The #rausinsorange campaign shows how beautiful the RBS/BSU region is and how much there is to discover in the surrounding communities. The best is just an RBS journey away!
BSU is a sister company of RBS and operates twelve bus routes in Solothurn and the surrounding area.
Good to know
On the RBS hiking trail from Solothurn to Bern or vice versa, you can hike stages of your choice all year round. The hiking trail mostly runs alongside the RE/S8 railway line. Stages can therefore be started or finished at any point you like.
