Waldegg Castle
Waldegg Castle – baroque grandeur on the outskirts of Solothurn.
Description
Waldegg Castle enjoys a stunning location in the centre of Solothurn’s local recreation area and has an illustrious history. It was built as a summer residence by the aristocratic Besenval family in the 17th century and includes an elaborate baroque garden, an orangery and a kitchen garden. The richly furnished museum offers an insight into the glory days of Solothurn, when the city on the Aare was the seat of the French king’s ambassadors.
