The Classionata Music Festival with conductor and artistic director Andreas Spörri, international soloists and the Vienna Volksoper Symphony Orchestra will take place in the Solothurn Concert Hall from 10-13 April 2025.

Five events will take place over four days. The programme also includes the operetta "Die Csárdásfürstin" by Emmerich Kálmán (3 performances).

1915 saw the world premiere of the operetta "Die Csárdásfürstin"  takes place. It tells the story of the chansonette Sylva Varescu and the nobleman Edwin, who is actually engaged to the Countess Stasi. Edwin promises to marry Sylva, but social constraints and the arrogance of his family stand in the way.  When Sylva realises that Edwin has already been promised to Stasi, she distances herself from Edwin. In the end, Edwin's parents accept Sylva, as they too once acted against social conventions out of love. A happy ending through personal insight.

This new, lively, poetic and entertaining version of "Die Cárdásfürstin" will be staged exclusively for the Classionata Solothurn Music Festival 2025 in a unique music theatre setting with dance and colourful costumes.

A symphony concert entitled "Masterpieces" is also on the programme. Performances include the overture "Die Weihe des Hauses" by Ludwig van Beethoven, the Concerto for Trumpet by Alexander Arutyunyan with the magnificent trumpet virtuoso Lorenz Raab and the Swan Lake Ballet Suite by Peter Tchaikovsky.

The Sunday matinée "A Musical Morning Walk" offers a colourful bouquet of works of light symphonic classical music. Since Classionata was founded in 1999, Andreas Spörri, as Artistic Director, has been keen to promote collaboration between young, local talent and professional orchestras. The sought-after clarinet soloist Bernhard Röthlisberger will perform at the Sunday matinée together with his extremely talented Solothurn pupil Mira Hostettler.  The clarinet virtuoso works will be accompanied by popular classics by Franz Liszt, Giuseppe Verdi and Franz von Suppé, among others.
