I visited Switzerland's finest baroque city with my family. Solothurn features architecture from the era of the Ambassadors of the French royal house, and is also known as the "City of the Ambassadors" for this reason. Impressive buildings such as the St. Ursus Cathedral are sure to leave lasting memories. The enchanting old town with its Mediterranean flair offers attractive shopping, countless cafés and restaurants as well as a wide range of cultural activities. The boat trip from Solothurn to Biel was unique, and I learned that the route is part of Switzerland's longest waterway. This Mittelland city is a real jewel, and is always worth a visit.
