In a strange and merciless world, fantastical beings battle for freedom in a contemporary tale that is lyrical, unsettling, and darkly funny.
by Kim de l’Horizon
We find ourselves in a dark room, or in the shadowy entrails of a monster, or perhaps on a stage resembling a fashion runway. A golden ladder rises within this space, promising a way out. Present are the Centaur Martin, the Dwarf Cuttlefish, Birch, and Kamchatka-Persicaria, and everyone understands that only one among them will survive. Suddenly, the author Kim and their nephew Diego appear.
Kim de l’Horizon tells the story of fantastical beings forced to confront one another through a series of trials in order to win their freedom. Schlurz, the voice that rules over this space, proves merciless: everyone must take part in the game of which they have become, willingly or not, the protagonists. Who will manage to escape this unsettling world? And in doing so, free themselves from labels and ready-made identities?
A wild linguistic ride with lyrical undertones, this resolutely contemporary play blends lightness with comedy.
