Here is a brand new opera by Vivaldi! In collaboration with the Dutch company OPERA2DAY, TOBS is staging "Les Liaisons dangereuses", a major work of 18th century French literature. Vivaldi's most beautiful arias have been reworked in a new libretto and combined with newly composed recitatives. The Marquise de Merteuil and the Vicomte de Valmont play a dangerous game with their love: the former lovers do not feel bound by moral and sexual standards, and they plan the erotic seduction of their victims who are caught in a complex web of intrigues. In his epistolary novel published in 1782, Choderlos de Laclos reveals the corruption of the French aristocracy on the eve of the Revolution and fascinates the reader with his subtle and malicious finds and clever changes of perspective. Combined with the vocal and instrumental fireworks of Vivaldi's music, the work will offer us the pleasure of a very special opera evening.
