Solothurn Literature Days
22.05.2020 – 24.05.2020
A festival for literature
For over 40 years, Solothurn has been the literary capital of Switzerland on the Ascension weekend. Writers from all four language regions as well as well-known international authors draw an enthusiastic audience to Solothurn every year. The heart of the Solothurn Literature Days is the exhibition of contemporary Swiss literature in all national languages, from prose, poetry, children's and youth literature to spoken word and translations. In addition to readings, there are discussions, concerts, workshops, performances and exhibitions. With around 150 events, the Solothurn Literature Days register around 18,000 admissions each year. All events take place around the festival centre in the Landhaus, which contributes significantly to the unique, familiar and exuberant atmosphere of the Solothurn Literature Days.
The evening programme of the Solothurn Literature Days on Friday and Saturday between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. offers a literary voyage of discovery through bars, restaurants and squares in Solothurn's old town. Various performances and events invite you to stop, stroll or linger with beer, dance and literary surprises.
On Saturday evening, the big Literaturtage Disco takes place in the cinema in the Uferbau.
