Operetta "The Merry Widow"
Veranstaltungsdetails
Franz Lehár's (1870-1948) master operetta "The Merry Widow" will be staged exclusively for the Classionata Solothurn Music Festival 2023 in a new, lively, poetic and entertaining musical theatre setting with colourful costumes and international choral and vocal soloists (3 performances).
The operetta "The Merry Widow", first performed in 1905, is still one of the most popular works of the genre and established Franz Lehár's worldwide fame. The ingenious musical ideas grew into unforgettable melodies, such as "Da geh' ich zu Maxim", "Lippen schweigen" and "Ja, das Studium der Weiber ist schwer". In addition, Lehár unerringly sprinkled all available dance styles such as gallop, waltz, polka, but also polonaise, kolo and cakewalk into the refined score, thus creating the new species of dance operetta.
