With «Pastorella», Les Passions de l’Âme revives the colours of the pastoral Baroque, from Vivaldi’s arias and elegant dances to the rediscovered sound of the rare chalumeau.
Les Passions de l’Âme
Violinist and conductor Meret Lüthi presents, together with her internationally renowned Baroque ensemble Les Passions de l’Âme, the new programme «Pastorella». It features, among other works, Schmelzer’s sonata «La bella pastora» as well as arias by Vivaldi performed by mezzo-soprano Lara Morger, winner of the Bach Prize 2024. The programme also highlights an original encounter with the chalumeau, a single-reed instrument from the clarinet family that is rarely played today. It is brought back to life here through concertos by Fasch and Telemann, performed by clarinettists Joan Calabuig Gaspar and Álvaro Iborra Jiménez.
Programme
Johann Heinrich Schmelzer: Balletti à 4 in D major «Pastorella»
Johann Friedrich Fasch: Concerto for Chalumeau in B-flat major FaWV L:B1
Johann Heinrich Schmelzer: «La bella pastora» for two violins and basso continuo
Antonio Vivaldi: «Cum dederit» in C major from «Nisi Dominus» RV 608
Giuseppe Tartini: Violin Sonata in A major, Op. 1 No. 13 «Pastorale»
Antonio Vivaldi: «Veni, veni, me sequere fida» from «Juditha triumphans», RV 644
