4. Woodland walks in Solothurn

“The Aare river between Olten and Aarau – a tamed river and yet a true experience of nature. For almost one hundred years, water power utilisation has been creating residual water and conveyors; the power waterways have shaped the landscape. Nonetheless, on the 4th woodland walk in Solothurn along the shore of the Aare river, you will find features very typical of a water meadow landscape. The rocky hills containing the ruins of the medieval castles Göskon and Kienberg serve as the cultural-historical highlight and as a magnificent scenic outpost.”
