6. Woodland walks in Solothurn

“Wasseramt – the name is amazing. The hilly countryside region is shaped neither by a grand lake district nor by mighty rivers. The ice-age Rhône glacier left just two small lakes, Burgäschi and Inkwiler, in an idyllic location in what are known as dead ice holes. The uniquely abundant and sizeable boulders also bear witness to the glacier in the Wasseramt.”

Walking time: Total length of the route 44 km. Enjoy the woodland walk in partial routes:

  • North: 12 km (3 h, 100 metres elevation)
  • Track 2000: 18 km (4 h, 170 metres elevation)
  • Around Aeschi: 12 km (2–3 h, 120 metres elevation)
  • Lake Burgäschi–Steinhof–Steinenberg: 15 km (3–4 h, 400 metres elevation)

Elevation: The major part of the woodland walk takes place at an altitude between 450 m a.s.l. and 500 m a.s.l. Exceptions include the ascent to the Steinhof (580 m a.s.l.) and the Steinberg (620 m a.s.l.)

The walking route is signposted with woodland walking signposts and is accessible by public transport.
