The app makes a trip to the Emme an exciting experience for young and old, for individual visitors and school classes. The app was commissioned by the Solothurn Environment Agency and is available free of charge.
The Emme flood protection and revitalisation project was completed in autumn 2020. Where possible, the course of the Emme was brought closer to its original state. Now the Emme has more space again, flows sometimes slowly, sometimes quickly and can also discharge large amounts of water without endangering the settlements near the river. Diverse structures in and around the water promote the biodiversity of plants and animals and make numerous observations possible.
Under the influence of the Emme
Living rivers like today's Emme are lifelines for nature, but also for people. They settled there early on because they were able to benefit from water power, fertile soils, the river as a transport route or the living creatures in and around the water. Riverine landscapes are therefore rich in stories - including those of the Emme. The focus is on the impetuous power of the water, animals such as the salmon or the von Roll family of Emmenholz.
Experience, discover and observe
The Emme app takes up the stories about the Emme and encourages you to think and experience them at 17 themed posts: Why do Gerlafingen and Biberist have the same tools in their coat of arms? Why is the Emme only a "motorway" for the beaver? When will we be able to observe the salmon on the Emme again? The focus is on experiencing nature. Modern technology supports the transfer of knowledge. Animated graphics, audio and video contributions, interactive game elements and numerous tips for research and discovery offer exciting experiences for individual visitors, families and school classes.
