Many of the magnificent buildings in Switzerland's most beautiful baroque city were built during the baroque period. St Ursen Cathedral, for example, was consecrated in 1773, in the age of early classicism. The most important musical representative of this era is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791), in whose honour the second edition of the three-day Mozart Festival will be held from 4 to 6 July 2025.

Concerts with music by Salzburg's most famous composer, performed by musicians from Mozart's birthplace. A festival that pays homage to the musical creations of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart: the Mozart Festival Solothurn. At its centre is the Ensemble Péridot Salzburg. An orchestra that combines historically informed musical practice with the tonal and interpretative possibilities of today, thus bringing the musical spirit of Mozart's city to Solothurn.

The Ensemble Péridot Salzburg plays Mozart's works in a very special way. Its quality lies above all in the symbiosis of historically informed performance practice with the splendour of sound and drama that Peter Peinstingl achieves with the Péridot Orchestra. Masterpieces by the Salzburg genius are performed by musicians from Mozart's native city. Their musical director has brought together soloists of the calibre of Remy Burnens, tenor, Daniel Holzhauser, baritone, Dimitri Ashkenazy, clarinet and Vladyslava Luchenko, violin.
