Romano Mombelli
Romano Mombelli is a Swiss swimmer and the fastest swimmer to cross the Strait of Bonifacio.
Solothurn knows how to make a splash: on the Aare, in the Aare or by the Aare. In summer, Solothurn’s legendary riverboat ride and variety of restaurants right by the water give it a Mediterranean feel.
My name is Romano Mombelli and I was born in the same place I still call home today – the magically tranquil little town of Solothurn. If I’m not in the water, I’ll be working hard at the University of Bern, where I study History and German studies.
Favourite spot: ‘Solothurn by the sea.’ This was the idea behind opening the ‘Hafebar’ (harbour bar) in 2002. The atmosphere, along with the view of Switzerland’s prettiest baroque town, makes for a unique experience.
Solothurn is the epitome of a high standard of living. People are drawn to this place, as though by magnetic force, again and again throughout their lives, even from miles away. Solothurn is far more than a dusty old baroque town – its Mediterranean, French atmosphere delights our visitors and gives them an unforgettable holiday experience.
