During our visit to Solothurn, we took a coffee break in one of the city's cafes. As our teatime snack, we sampled the Solothurner Torte, Solothurn's own gateau. The base and top consist of light biscuit and hazelnut meringue, with a divine creme filling in between. The Solothurners consume this speciality in all seasons. The gateau is produced in various sizes. As a souvenir of our unforgettable excursion to Solothurn, we took one of these cakes back home with us.
