Thunstetten Castle
Over 300 years old, Thunstetten Castle combines architecture steeped in history with a lively atmosphere. Surrounded by an inviting park, it is a place full of charm that harmoniously combines past and present.
Beschreibung
Situated on the narrow side of a hill, the baroque palace, built in 1713-1715 on the orders of Hieronymus von Erlach, dominates the landscape. Beautifully set in a well-tended park, the grounds are a perfect example of the “Palais entre Cour et Jardin” manor house model. The palace park with its magnificent view invites you to linger.
The castle museum in the side wing provides insights into 300 years of history, which will be accompanied by the special exhibition “Langenthal Porcelain Stories” in 2021. Admission to the museum is free, but a contribution to the donation box is welcome.
In the castle café, you can start your visit to the museum with a fragrant cup of coffee or end it with a hearty Landvogten-Zvieriplättli and a glass of wine. Creative and varied bistro cuisine is served here during the museum's opening hours.
Guided tours
The guides will lead you through Thunstetten Castle with plenty of knowledge and charm. Immerse yourself in the history of the castle, learn more about the builder Hieronymus von Erlach and his connections to the French ambassadors in Solothurn.
In late fall and winter, the “scary tours” through the castle in the evening hours are a crowd puller.
Rent rooms
The castle can be hired for weddings, birthday parties and corporate events.
Events
Under the motto “A castle for everyone”, Thunstetten is a place of culture and encounters and many interesting events take place.
