Tower of St. Ursus Cathedral

The impressive St. Ursen Cathedral was built between 1762 and 1773. The imposing tower has a height of 6x11 meters and in the belfry hang 11 bells. The so-called laced dome, the visiting card of the architect, Gaetano Matteo Pisoni from Ascona, forms the end of the tower. The tower is crowned with a sphere, a cross and the weathercock. It is worth climbing up the 249 steps. Once the platform is reached, the reward is a unique view over the city of Solothurn and far across the country. Hidden things become visible!

Rent rooms / informations:
The tower platform can be rented for an aperitif from 7 to 20 people from the Roman Catholic parish. Food and drinks have to be brought by yourself. Request location here.

St. Ursen Cathedral
The cathedral is open daily from 08:00 - 18:30 and may not be visited during services.

Good to know
Smoking and picnics are strictly prohibited in the tower and on the tower terrace. Children under 12 years of age may enter the tower only when accompanied by an adult. Access with animals is not allowed.
